CSO Status Update - June 2020
Posted on Jun 25th, 2020

Here is an update from the City of Dearborn about the CSO Project:
Ongoing CSO Sewer Separation in our neighborhood involve two separate independent contracts (Contract 2 and Contract 3) with S. Lafayette Street as a limit of each contract. Pamar is the selected contractor for both projects based on their submitted bids for Contract 2 ( construction year 2019 and 2020) and contract 3 (construction year 2020 and 2021).
Contract 2 - The contract completion date for the Contract 2 is October 31, 2020.  The contractor is well ahead of this schedule. South Denwood Street is not forgotten. The contractor has paved South Denwood Street between Emerson and Telegraph and just completed driveway apron/sidewalk work yesterday within these blocks. Sewer work on South Vernon Street was just completed last week. So, I would not say that the streets are forgotten. All streets between S. Lafayette and Telegraph are scheduled to be completed this year except Marshall Street which will receive hot mix asphalt resurfacing this year as a temporary measure because of the street continued use for next year construction.
Contract 3 -  As I have informed you and the affected residents on June 11, 2020 (see attachment) that the COVID -19 pandemic has delayed the construction of this phase of the project by approximately seven (7) weeks  which had required us to rework the entire schedule. The revised schedule was prepared and relayed to affected residents considering the sanitary and storm system flow, to have minimum impact with the area residents and to complete approximately 35% of the project by October 31, 2020.
COVID-19 pandemic impact on construction projects - Construction industries especially concrete and lawn restoration/landscaping industries are the adversely impacted industries with the COVID- 19. Lawn restoration work has just received go ahead from the Governor STAY HOME ORDER. These contractors have tremendous backlog of work and we are working with them to make sure our scheduled projects are completed by the end of October. I have also heard from the contractors that there is shortage of construction workers and they are struggling to recruit workers because of lucrative unemployment benefits offered with the COVID-19. Although Marshall Street between S. Lafayette and Telegraph was scheduled for concrete this year; the revised schedule requires the use of Marshall street for next year. Therefore, Marshall Street will be temporarily paved with hot mix asphalt this year.
